Sonoraville will open play in the Chattooga Holiday Tournament on Wednesday against Ridgeland.
Sonoraville boys 66, Murray County 34
Sonoraville bounced back in a big way on Tuesday following a tough loss in the opening round as they hit a school- record 16 3-pointers to roll past the Indians in consolation-bracket play.
Leading the charge was Brad Wilson who connected on seven shots from beyond the arc to finish with a team-high 21 points for Sonoraville (8-1). Casey Brooks hit four 3’s for 12 points, Trent Daniel had 11 points and hit three 3’s and Wil Walraven scored 10 points.
The Phoenix led 15-10 after one quarter but dominated the second to build a 37-19 lead at the half to set the tone for the rest of the game. They outscored Murray County 29-15 in the sec- ond half.
Dalton girls 51, Sonoraville 38
A bad third quarter made the difference in a loss on Tuesday at the North Murray Tournament for Sonoraville.
The Lady Phoenix (1-8) only trailed by three at 20-17 at the half, but Dalton came out of the locker room and established control by outscoring Sonoraville 23-8 in the third quarter.
Sonoraville’s offense struggled as a whole as no scorer reached double figures. Kolbey Smith and Sandi McMullin both scored seven to lead the way, and Maliyah Parks added five.
