Phoenix match school record with road victory at Bremen
The Sonoraville Phoenix had a big night from beyond the arc and used that to earn a win and tie school record in the process on Tuesday.
The Phoenix hit 12 3-pointers to lead the way in a 55-42 Region 6-AAA road win at Bremen to continue their strong start and tie the school record for most wins in a single season with just a little less than half the schedule still remaining.
Brad Wilson caught fire for Sonoraville (14-2, 7-0) as he hit seven shots from beyond the arc to give him a game-high 21 points.
Wil Walraven was in double figures again with 12 points, and Bryce Waters added nine. The Phoenix jumped out to a 14-11 lead after one quar- ter but then created some distance between themselves and the Blue Devils with a 16-8 advantage in the second quarter. After a slow third for both teams, Sonoraville put the stamp on the win with a 22-point effort in the fourth.
The Phoenix will look to continue their momentum on Friday when they host Adairsville for another region matchup at 8:30 p.m. It is Sonoraville’s first home game since Dec. 6.
