Rotary Club of Calhoun has eventful meeting
Chief Magistrate speaks to Rotarians
Milton Stewart was the program chair for Jan. 12, 2017 meeting, introducing Gordon County’s Chief Magistrate Pat Rasbury to the Rotary Club.
Judge Rasbury, who was accompanied by his wife, Kim, has resided in Gordon County since 1985. He is a graduate from UTC and worked for the Gordon County Fire Department for eight years.
He outlined the duties of his office, which includes issuing arrest and search warrants, setting bonds, conducting trials for county ordinance violations, handling foreclosures and garnishments and trials for civil claims of $15,000 or less.
Among the goals he enumerated are to make his office more efficient and to increase access to Information Technology.
Cliff Dochterman Award Presented
Calhoun Rotary’s first presentation of the Cliff Dochterman Award was made to Rev. Eddie Herring for his long and dedicated service to the Boy Scouts of America. The award was presented by Past President Jim Rosencrance.
In keeping with the objectives and principles of both Rotary and Scouting to encourage character development, leadership, citizenship and personal growth for youth, this award is presented to a qualified Rotarian who has displayed distinguished service and outstanding dedication to the program of Scouting through contributions to the character development, leadership, citizenship and personal growth of members of the scouting association through programs, training or organization.
Calhoun Rotary welcomes its newest member
We’re very pleased to announce the induction of our newest member, Justin Childress, owner of Childress Realty in Calhoun. Justin was sponsored by Jim Lay, and Rotary President John King presided over his induction into Rotary. The club welcomes Justin.
