Citizenship Washington Focus
Citizenship Washington Focus is a 4- H leadership program for high school youth. Delegations from across the country attend this six- day program at the National 4- H Youth Conference Center, located just outside Washington, D. C. The program is aimed at enriching young people’s lives by broadening their appreciation and respect for themselves and others in the world. Participants attend workshops, committees, field trips and social events, giving them hands- on opportunities to learn and grow. Participants learn and practice skills that will make them better citizens and individuals that are more successful. During the week long program participants will also have the opportunity to visit local Washington, D. C., landmarks including the Capitol, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, Presidential and war monuments and memorials, as well as Smithsonian museums.
This year’s Citizenship Washington Focus will be on June 11- 17, 2017 and is open to all 4- H’ers age 14- 19 at the time of the trip. Registration is on a firstcome, first- served basis. Georgia has limited openings reserved for the Citizenship Washington Focus program. The $200 deposit and registration form are due by January 27, 2017. If space is still available after the deadline, additional participants will gladly be accepted. The remaining costs will be due by May 12, 2017. 4-H will provide transportation to and from Washington, D. C., and during the week of Citizenship Washington Focus.
