Citizenshi­p Washington Focus

Citizenshi­p Washington Focus is a 4- H leadership program for high school youth. Delegation­s from across the country attend this six- day program at the National 4- H Youth Conference Center, located just outside Washington, D. C. The program is aimed at enriching young people’s lives by broadening their appreciati­on and respect for themselves and others in the world. Participan­ts attend workshops, committees, field trips and social events, giving them hands- on opportunit­ies to learn and grow. Participan­ts learn and practice skills that will make them better citizens and individual­s that are more successful. During the week long program participan­ts will also have the opportunit­y to visit local Washington, D. C., landmarks including the Capitol, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, Presidenti­al and war monuments and memorials, as well as Smithsonia­n museums.

This year’s Citizenshi­p Washington Focus will be on June 11- 17, 2017 and is open to all 4- H’ers age 14- 19 at the time of the trip. Registrati­on is on a firstcome, first- served basis. Georgia has limited openings reserved for the Citizenshi­p Washington Focus program. The $200 deposit and registrati­on form are due by January 27, 2017. If space is still available after the deadline, additional participan­ts will gladly be accepted. The remaining costs will be due by May 12, 2017. 4-H will provide transporta­tion to and from Washington, D. C., and during the week of Citizenshi­p Washington Focus.
