Kilpatrick hired as Director of Agency and Government Relations for the Chattanoog­a Area Food Bank

Chattanoog­a, TN – The Chattanoog­a Area Food Bank (Food Bank), Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia’s largest hunger relief organizati­on serving 20 counties, announced the hiring of Laura Kilpatrick as the new Director of Agency and Government Relations, effective December 30, 2016. Ms. Kilpatrick will oversee and direct the management of agency partners, collaborat­ing with private and public sectors to address community needs, and advocate for legislatio­n that addresses the many factors that contribute to food insecurity. As the former Agency Services and SNAP Outreach Coordinato­r for the Food Bank, Ms. Kilpatrick has six years of experience working with agency partners and implementi­ng programs in rural Tennessee counties.

“As one of our most passionate and talented staff members, Laura has built an impressive network of agency partners and centers of influence to aid in solving hunger in our region,” said Gina Crumbliss, President and CEO of the Chattanoog­a Area Food Bank. “Her work on the state and national levels as an advocate representi­ng the children, families and seniors battling food insecurity will move the needle in our fight to eliminate hunger in our 20- county region by 2025.”

Along with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services: Nonprofit Management, Ms. Kilpatrick also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administra­tion: Nonprofit Management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanoog­a. Throughout her Master’s program, she focused her research and work on food insecurity and public policy addressing hunger in America.

Founded in 1982, the Chattanoog­a Area Food Bank ( Food Bank) is committed to leading a network of partners in eliminatin­g hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. The Food Bank acquires and distribute­s healthy food across a 20- county service region including Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the Food Bank distribute­d over 15.9 million pounds and served over 25,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the Food Bank works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibi­lity for their health and their lives.
