Sonoraville boys soccer gets non-region road win at Cass
The Sonoraville boys soccer team got a pair of goals from three different players to run away with a non-region road win on Tuesday.
The Phoenix were led by Alexander Soldevilla, Kevin Villatoro and Alex Salgado, who each scored two goals to give their team a 6-2 victory over Cass.
Sonoraville ( 2- 0- 1) controlled possession for much of the contest, outshooting the Colonels 25-8. In goal, Sonoraville’s Adam Schwartz had five saves.
The Phoenix are home on Friday to host Morris Innovative at 7 p.m.

SOCCER Sonoraville girls 2, Cass 1
The Lady Phoenix got a goal midway through the second half on Tuesday to break the tie and eventually help them earn a road victory.
Sonoraville sophomore Bailey Brewer broke the tie in the 59th minute with a goal that stood up as the game winner. Avery Hamilton got the Lady Phoenix (2-1) on the board earlt in the contest with a goal in the fourth minute off a corner kick, but Cass tied things up a little later in the first half.
Sonoraville is on the road on Tuesday at Dalton for another non-region test at 5:30 p.m.
Calhoun boys 3, Holy Innocents 0
Calhoun bounced back from a season-opening loss with an impressive road win on Wednesday night thanks to a balanced offensive and defensive effort.
The Jackets (1-1) got goals from Johnathan Castillo, Jorge Aranda and Luis Vargas Smith.
Calhoun was also solid on defense with Eduardo Fajardo and Hugo Barragan combining for three saves and the shutout in goal.
The Jackets are on the road again on Friday at Lumpkin County at 6:30 p.m.
BASEBALL Gordon Lee 12, Sonoraville 2
Sonoraville took an early lead but gave up three big innings to the Trojans as they fell on the road in their season opener on Tuesday.
The Phoenix (0-1) got a leadoff homer from Chase Kirby in the first, but Gordon Lee combined to score 12 runs in the third, fourth and fifth to take control of the game.
Kirby drove in both runs for Sonoraville, and Matthew Vincent had two hits. Grant Clark, Tyler Lyles and Gavin Phillips each had a hit with Phillips scoring a run.
Sonoraville will play a doubleheader on Saturday at Gilmer starting at 12 p.m.
Ridgeland 16, Gordon Central 1
The Warriors had a tough start on Monday in their season opener as they allowed six runs in the first three innings before Ridgeland exploded for a 10-run fourth to put the game away.
Gordon Central (0-1) was limited to two hits with Dawson Cline recording a double and a run scored. Zack Sisson also had a hit and drew a walk.
The Warriors are at LaFayette on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
