HAC, Calhoun Little Theater to present “A Time to Kill” beginning March 3

- Staff Reports

Calhoun Little Theater proudly presents a timeless courtroom drama, A Time to Kill, on March 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7 p. m., and March 5 at 3 p. m., at the Harris Arts Center.

Carl Lee Hailey shot two men in the very courtroom where he now stands trial. But attorney Jake Brigance sees Hailey’s act of vengeance against the racist men who attacked his daughter as a desperate bid for justice, and he’s willing to risk everything to defend his client’s life. As the trial heats up, the community is torn apart in this gripping adaptation of John Grisham’s incendiary novel about race, crime, and family in small- town America that asks the question: when is it right to take justice into your own hands?

The play is directed by Virginia M. McChesney and produced by Clare Lewis.

Cast: Brian Anderson, Evan Brackett, Coleen Brooks, Hartwell Brooks, Jim Curry, Rodney Curtis, Jessica Dennis, Vic Hixon, Jesse Kindred, Marie Kindred, Jim Kirk, Kevin Morang, Kevin Morang II, Teresa Morang, Mary Nell Podgorny, Susan Powell, Dale Seger, Calvin Smith, and LeAnna Wade.

This production is based on the classic John Grisham bestseller, adapted for the stage by Rupert Holmes and produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

Due to the mature subject matter of the play, an over- 18 audience is suggested.
