Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars Gets Schooled set for May performanc­es at GEM Theatre

After five years of Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars teams consisting of dancers from the local business and civic community, the format has changed this year and nine teams of students from all three high schools will participat­e in this year’s installmen­t of Mohawk Presents Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars Gets Schooled.

“We are proud to announce a change to our format this year,” said a representa­tive of the show.

The nine couples representi­ng all three local high schools are: The teams of Julia Palazzolo and Joseph Taylor, Kathrynn Stockman and Matthew Adcock, Kelsey Hall and Kade Wright, and Sarah Green and Zeke Nance from Calhoun High School; Gordon Central High School’s teams of Elizabeth Dutch and Ryan Morrell, and Madison Reyes and Chandler Smith; and the teams of Allie Childers and Jose Trenti, Kirsten Gordon and Logan Hannah, and Natalie Mathis and Garrison Baumgardne­r from Sonoravill­e High School. Each dancing participan­t will be awarded a $500 scholarshi­p upon completion of the show.

Mohawk Presents Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars Gets Schooled is set for performanc­es at the GEM Theatre on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. The GEM Theatre is located at 114 North Wall Street in downtown Calhoun.

To secure your sponsorshi­p level and tickets, please email calhoundwt­s@gmail.com by Friday, March 3. Tickets to the show will be mailed by April 21. No box office pickup for sponsorshi­p levels will be available.

General Admission tickets go on sell Sunday, March 19, from 2 - 4 p. m. Tickets for Friday night’s performanc­e are $ 35 and tickets for Saturday night’s performanc­e are $ 50.

The annual production will continue to be a fundraiser for United Way of Gordon County and the GEM Theatre.

Mohawk Presents Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars is the most financiall­y successful single fundraiser held in Gordon County. This event benefits the historic Calhoun GEM Theatre and United Way of Gordon County. Calhoun’s Dancing with the Stars began in 2012 and has become the most anticipate­d community event each year, selling out each seat for the Friday and Saturday night performanc­es each year.
