The fool has said . . .

- Ken Herron

The Bible says that, “The Fool has said in his heart that there is no God!” Those who believe there is no God also do not believe the Bible, so he or she is not affected by what the Bible states. Those of us who have been raised in Christian homes and have attended church and Sunday School have no trouble believing in God. To a Christian, the Bible’s story of creation is a good explanation of how we got here. Accidental occurrences as described in the theory of evolution are attributed to developments over millions of years. Even with millions of years, the human body would not have developed. It is the most complicated single creation that has ever been discovered. Not one of the organs in the human body can exist without the rest of the organs. This necessitates a designer or developer to create all of the body’s systems and start them at the same time. No known entity could do this, so there must be a more powerful being somewhere that could start the human race.

If we rely on accidental occurrences, you could wonder how many millions of years would it take for an automobile to develop accidentally? Consider that the car would have rubber tires that would be mounted on steel rims and hold air for a soft ride. It would have an internal combustion engine with an electrical system that includes headlights, tail lights and spark plugs. We would expect it to have a leather interior with nylon carpet. We would expect it to include air conditioning and a stereo radio. It will run on gasoline, which would already be in the gas tank. Do you think that you could find one person on Earth that would believe that this actually could happen? All of this is far less complicated than the human body and yet there are millions of people that believe that the human body accidentally evolved over a period of time without being created.

The scientists that believe in evolution believe that each living fish, bird and animal was just one of the stepping stones that led to the forming of man. We have reasonably good scientific records for the past 500 years and yet we have seen no sign of anything that accidently promotes evolution. The Bible speaks of God creating all of the living beings. His command to each class of living being after they were created was to go and reproduce “After His Kind.” Dogs do not produce cats. Elephants do not produce armadillos. Man has tried to create new beings by cross breeding. Cross a horse and a donkey and produce a mule. Two mules cannot reproduce and create another mule. The mule has different characteristics but it is not superior to either the horse or the donkey. It is not a step forward in evolution.

It is a historical fact that Jesus Christ lived on earth and was crucified. Other documents than the Bible record some of the history of the time and made statements about Him. The books and letters that are in the New Testament have been copied and preserved since the time period of the lives of the Apostles. The establishing of the Catholic Church began in Rome before the death of Paul and Peter. The history of the time was preserved by the Catholic Church. The Bible is not just a book. It is the most important book ever composed. The first book ever printed on a printing press was the Bible and we believe the printing press was developed for that purpose. The Bible is the most printed book that has ever been published. It continues now to be the most printed book each year. There are 6909 languages used in the world and at least a part of the Bible has been printed in 2932 of these languages. No other book is near this record. Is there a reason for the popularity of the Bible? The cover always has two words and they are Holy Bible. Holy is a reference to God. Bible can be translated as Book so the Bible is God’s Book. Some folks call it the Owner’s Manual because it has so many answers to how a man should live.

The Bible states that God spoke things into existence and he was pleased with the things he had made. When he decided to make man, He said that man would be made in the image of God. God did not speak man into existence but he reached down to the dirt and formed a body that met the standards that he desired. He then breathed the breath of life into him and man became a living soul. Starting with the sons of Adam, man did not follow the path that pleased God and God reached the point He was sorry that he made man. God decided to destroy all of the people by flooding the Earth. Noah was pleasing to God and he saved Noah and his family on an ark along with a pair of all of his living creations. Noah was 83 years old when Adam’s son, Seth, died and the chances are good that Noah heard the story of the creation from Seth. Abraham was 58 years old when Noah died and chance are good that Abraham heard of both the creation and the flood from Noah himself. Jacob was 48 years old when Noah’s son, Shem, died and the chance that they met and talked were very good. Moses wrote down these stories in the book of Genesis and it was not many years after the sons of Jacob had died. The chances of the Bible being accurate are very good.

The reason that God created man was so that he could have fellowship with man. Fellowship can be described as a loving, open, friendly relationship. When God looks at each of us, to Him it is like reading a book. He enjoys seeing the things we have accomplished and how we have conducted our lives. Just believing that the Bible is true and that God exists is not enough to create a fellowship with God. The central theme of the Bible is named in the book of John in chapter 3 and verse 16. “God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son to die to pay the price for our sins so that if we believe in His Son we will have life eternally.”

Salvation for man is not automatic and it is not inherited. Corrie Ten Boom from Holland said it this way, “God don’t have any grandchildren.” Every individual must create their own relationship with God. It requires that we ask God to forgive us for our sins and acknowledge that we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We must then live our lives in a way that pleases God. In the book of Acts, Jesus said about Christians, “By this shall you know them that they love one another.”
