TOBI Says, Go Long!

-

It will not be long until the passer says, “go long.” The goal is for the pass to go far enough for the receiver to be able to stretch out his hands and catch the ball in full stride. This requires the receiver to have faith in the passer that he can throw the ball that far and on target. The passer has to know how far to lead the receiver to reach the goal. When the receiver has learned to trust the passer, he will quickly believe in him and take that first step.

This is faith (noun) producing believing (action), which shows the faith.

Abraham in the Bible is a good example of this. He is called Abram in the beginning of the story. God told Abram to take his family and go. Abram had to trust God, and pack up his family and move. It took faith in God. Believing God resulted in action. God promised Abram that he would be a great nation.

Abram traveled a ways and then stopped. Maybe his father-in-law got sick, we do not know. But later Abram did travel the rest of the way to where God wanted him to go. And God did make Abraham’s family a great nation.

How does all this happen? The receiver trusts the passer to lead him the right way. The receiver has to watch the ball, he cannot be looking around. The passer has to lead the receiver in a way so that he will not run into a tree, or hole or puddle.

A Christian following God will have to have faith, and then he shows he believes God by taking that first step. Just like that receiver, he has to keep his eye on God, and trust Him to lead him the right way.

Those two in the yard can be any age. It could be two young boys or two adults. The actions will be the same. Abram was 75 when God told him to move. God has a plan for each person. You must choose to trust God (faith) and act on that faith, believing what God has for you. He wants to do something special with your life. Will you give God that chance today? If so, Go Long today.
