Public invited to attend public training exercise from CSX
The Gordon County Local Emergency Planning Committee invites the public to attend a public training exerciser involving CSX railroad on Tuesday, March 14 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Calhoun. The exercise topic concerns train derailments and how they can affect the public. CSX will be on hand to discuss the possibility of a train derailment occurring in our area and what the public could expect in the event one occurs.
“The role of the Local Emergency Planning Committee is to form a partnership with local governments and industries as a resource for enhancing hazardous materials preparedness,” said Gordon County LEPC Chairperson April Chastain. “By providing this training, we are making sure everyone is informed and aware. This training also integrates both government and industries to network and work together.”
Lunch will be provided for the presentation.
Made up of local industry, emergency response and local government representatives, the Gordon County LEPC strives to ensure the safety and emergency preparedness of the citizens of Gordon County.
