Calhoun Rotary Club is pleased to welcome our latest new member, Marcus Williams, who was inducted on Feb. 16. 2017. Marcus is a member of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce and is a banker at Georgia Bank and Trust in Calhoun. He was sponsored by Jeffrey Beamer.

Rotary Club President John King has welcomed seven new members since November 2016. Some of the sponsors of our new Rotarians are John King, Russell Dudley, Jim Lay, Sam Thomas and Jeffrey Beamer. The goal of Rotary is to invite persons who exemplify our core tenet of “Service Above Self”. In the photo, left to right, John King, Rotary president; Marcus Williams; Jeffrey Beamer.

The Gordon County area is fortunate in the high quality medical care available, which include hospitals, doctors, specialized clinics and since 2011, the county has been served by a Amtran Medical Transport, a nonemergency medical transportation service.

The Rotary Club’s guest speaker on Thursday, March 2, 2017 was Amtran’s Bethany Nevarez, marketing director and patient specialist. Bethany was introduced by Program Chair Lillian Towe.

Nevarez explained that Amtran serves Georgia and Tennessee and provides land transportation for medically fragile patients. The company was founded in Rome by two firefighters, who are licensed EMTs.

Their drivers are also licensed EMT’s and are qualified in basic and advanced life support. For further information on the company, please see their Facebook Page or their website.

Also attending the program were Adrian Lyles, of Lyles Wealth Management, guest of Jim Rosencrance and Greg Bowman, County Agriculture Extension Agent, guest of John King.
