From Reinhardt reports

No. 16 Reinhardt closed out its Spring Break trip with two more wins in Titusville, Fla., Saturday morning as the Lady Eagles defeated Lynn, 4-3, and Cumberlands, 7-4, to close the trip with an 8-2 mark.

Game 1

RU and Lynn would need extra inning to decide Saturday morning’s first contest, but the Lady Eagles took advantage of being the home team on the scoreboard as they scored the game-winning run for a walk-off win.

Both teams would have a runner start the eighth inning on second base. Lynn’s runner would be left stranded on third, but the Lady Eagles started the inning with a speedy runner in Taylor Braselton on base. After Balie Willis laid down a sacrifice bunt, Jessica Baker continued her torrid trip as she singled into center to score Braselton with the winning run.

All of the runs in regulation were scored in the third and fourth innings. After Lynn went ahead 1-0, Baker singled up the middle to score a pair of runs to give RU the 2-1 lead. Lynn gained the lead with two runs in the fourth, but a Taylor Weeks single scored Angela Roberts to tie the game.

Madison Luck earned the win for the Lady Eagles, going all eight innings in the circle and allowing just one earned run.

Game 2

RU got off on the right foot against the Patriots as Maddie Evans connected for a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first to give the Lady Eagles the lead. One inning later, Evans tacked on another RBI as her single to center scored Cassidy Howren. Hannah McKinley would follow with an RBI single to make it a 3-0 advantage. The lead became 4-0 in the third as Haley Collins singled home Anglea Roberts.

In the fourth, RU took advantage of an error that allowed Weeks to score, making it 5-0 for the Lady Eagles. UC would score a run in the fifth, but RU added two runs in the sixth to put it away. Evans made it a 3-RBI game with a single to score Grace Townsend, with Willis adding a sacrifice fly one batter later to make it 7-1.

UC would score three unearned runs in the seventh, but the Lady Eagles held on for the 7-4 win.

Former Gordon Central standout Maci Mills worked five innings in the circle for the win, with Maddie Szalewski pitching the final two for RU.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Friday as Tallagega visits Waleska, Ga., for a doubleheader.
