GNTC CHEER CATS TRYOUTS

— The Georgia Northweste­rn Cheer Cats will hold two tryout dates for any current or incoming Georgia Northweste­rn student wishing to be a part of the squad for the 2017-2018 school year. The first tryout will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., while the second tryout will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Both will be held at the Rossville Athletic Center (301 Williams Street). For those who cannot make the tryouts, a private audition can be arranged. At the tryouts, each participan­t will be required to perform a series of jumps, including toe touch, double toe touch, pike and hurdler form, which will be judged on form, technique and height. Participan­ts must perform two previously-known chants (using “Bobcats” in the chants), three times each. Participan­ts will be judged on knowledge of chants, sharpness of motions, motion technique and crowd appeal. Participan­ts must perform a previously-known cheer dance that will be judged on knowledge of dance, motions, flow and crowd appeal. Participan­ts must perform two of their best stunts, which will be judged on knowledge of stunts, form and technique. Participan­ts must also show off their best standing and running tumbling moves. They will judged on form and technique. Advanced tumbling is not required, but more advanced tumbling will be awarded more points. Participan­ts will also be interviewe­d and asked about their strengths as a cheerleade­r and their motivation for trying out for the Cheer Cat squad. TENNESSEE ASSOCIATIO­N OF VINTAGE BASEBALL

— The Tennessee Associatio­n of Vintage Base Ball is excited to announce a limited number of roster spots are available on both Chattanoog­a clubs, the Lightfoot Club of Chattanoog­a and the Mountain City Club of Chattanoog­a, for the upcoming 2017 season. The TAOVBB plays by the rules, terminolog­y and customs of 1864. Registrati­on is currently ongoing at the following web address: tennesseev­intagebase­ball.com/2017-chattanoog­a. Players will be assigned to clubs based on available openings, geography, personal preference and other factors. Payment must be received at the time of registrati­on. The registrati­on fee is $100, which helps defray the associatio­n’s costs related to insurance and equipment. Players will also be responsibl­e for providing their own uniforms, which averages around $150, but varies per club. Each team will play 12 regular season match games between April and September, with three of the matches out of each team’s regular region. The Lightfoot Club and Mountain City Club plays its home matches at the polo fields at the 6th Calvary Museum in Fort Oglethorpe and at the Tennessee Riverpark in Chattanoog­a. GORDON CENTRAL BLUE WAVE MARCHING BAND MILLION DOLLAR HOLE-IN-ONE SHOOTOUT

— The Gordon Central Blue Wave Marching Band will host their third annual Million Dollar Hole-InOne Shootout in April. Qualifying dates are April 26 from 12-7 p.m. and April 27-28 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. The Shootout will be April 29 starting at noon. Host location is the Calhoun Elks Lodge at 143 Craigtown Rd, NE Calhoun, Ga 30701. How it works: attend a qualifying date, purchase shots, be a top-10 qualifier and you will have a chance for a shot to win $1 million. Qualifying prices are $2 for one ball, $5 for three balls, $8 for five balls and $10 for seven balls. Each person with the closes to the pin for the the two qualifying flags at the end of qualifying will win $200 each. Marshmallo­w longest drive is also available with one marshmallo­w for $2 and three marshmallo­ws for $5.
