- Staff Reports Staff Reports

Through a grant with North Georgia Electrical Membership Corporation, the Calhoun-Gordon County Library’s Friends of the Library group was able to provide materials to make a fleece blanket for every foster child in the community. The Gordon County Division of Family and Children Services has been able to distribute many blankets already. If you are interested in helping make these blankets, drop by the library.

Kathy Johnson, president and CEO of Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, recently spoke to the Calhoun Rotary Club. She was introduced by Program Chair Jim Rosencrance.

Johnson gave a presentation of the Chamber’s goals and mission for 2017. She was assisted by Kim Gallman, Chamber staffer who displayed visual aids, brochures and gift packets which are given to visitors to the area and to those interested in the business potential of Calhoun/ Gordon County. These packets are available from the Chamber and can be found in area hotels and more upon request for group travelers. There is also a new website: exploregordoncounty. com.

The county continues to see expansion and growth in the business sector, local and foreign managed, particularly along Hwy 41 South.

Four elements that constitute the Chamber’s 2017 mission include Community, Connections, Economic Growth and Membership. In fact, several Rotarians have leadership roles in the Chamber as members of the Board of Directors.

Also attending the meeting were visitors Garrett Nudd, Gordon Hospital and Earle Layng, guest of Misty Goss- McBrayer.
