Crowder honored at state public health conference
Calhoun, GA: Lisa Crowder, RN, nurse manager for the Gordon County Health Department and acting nurse manager for the Catoosa County Health Department, was recognized at the Georgia Public Health Association’s 88th Annual Meeting & Conference held April 11-12, in Atlanta. Crowder received the prestigious Ruth B. Freeman Public Health Nursing Award for Population Healthcare. The award is given annually to a Georgia public health nurse in recognition of continued excellence in communitybased public health practice.
“Through her many years of working in disease prevention and health promotion,” said Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District Program Manager Nichole Crick, RN, BSN, “Lisa has had a tremendous impact on the community health of both Gordon and Catoosa counties. Populationbased preventive healthcare is the core function of public health, and both these northwest Georgia counties are fortunate to have such a skilled public health professional working to improve the health of all their citizens.”
Crowder has previously worked for Northwest Georgia Tuberculosis Control and Floyd Medical Center. She began her nursing career with the Gordon County Health Department in 2000 as a tuberculosis specialist and was named nurse manager in 2010. She was named acting nurse manager in Catoosa in 2016.
