At the time, King said, “I’m excited about returning to my home in Gordon County to serve the needs of the people in our community, and I am honored that the Gordon County Commissioners have selected me for the County Administrator position.”

The County Administrator is appointed by and directly responsible to the Board of Commissioners. The position supervises the daily operations of 13 county departments and coordinates the activities among those departments, elected officials and outside agencies. The County Administrator implements Board policy, serves as the hiring authority of all department directors under the Board’s jurisdiction, prepares annual budget and bi-monthly commission agendas, oversees grant applications and grant administration and responds to citizen complaints that cannot be resolved by department directors.

The County is now in the planning process of hiring a new Administrator, with the position being posted in upcoming weeks.
