The program offers intensive and advanced instruction designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The program has often been described as “life- changing” by participants. An accomplished musician, vocalist and thespian, Joseph will attend classes in his major of Music and a selected minor, as well as participate in special projects and performances.
Calhoun High junior Cecelia Swink has qualified as a participant in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program based on her performance on the PSAT.
From approximately 1.5 million entrants, she is among the 50,000 highest scoring students and will be recognized as such this fall.
From these 50,000 high scorers across the nation, 16,000 will be named National Merit Program Semifinalists, representing the top scorers in each state; and the other 34,000 will be commended for their performance on the PSAT. If selected as a semifinalist, Swink will have the opportunity to compete for one of 7,400 Merit Scholarships to be awarded in 2018.
