Tolbert Elementary’s Stephens selected Gordon County Schools’ Teacher of the Year
Caroline Stephens from Tolbert Elementary School was named Gordon County Schools’ District Teacher of the Year during the Teacher of the Year Banquet held on April 20.
Stephens was chosen following a lengthy process that included school nominations, applications and observations. Other finalists included Christy Smith from Fairmount Elementary and Julie Thomas from Sonoraville Elementary School.
Nominees were: Ashworth Middle School, Jessica Westmoreland; Belwood Elementary School, Sidney Shipley; Gordon Central High School, Penny Dobson; Red Bud Elementary School, Heather Duncan; Red Bud Middle School, Gwin Culberson; Sonoraville High School, Hannah Nelson; and W. L. Swain Elementary School, Meagan Rice.
In addition to the gifts presented to the other finalists, Stephens received an Apple Watch, as well as the opportunity to attend any conference of her choice during the 2017-18 school year, with all fees and expenses paid by the school district. Stephens will go on the represent Gordon County Schools in Georgia Teacher of the Year competition.
