CALHOUN AQUATIC CENTER

— The Calhoun Aquatic Center is open to the entire community offering group and private swim lessons, lap swimming, liquid fitness classes, pool parties, a fitness room, and is home to Northwest Georgia Aquatics, a sanctioned USA Swimming & US Masters Swimming competitive, yearround swim team. DIVING PROGRAM AT CALHOUN AQUATIC CENTER

— The Nitros will offer competitive diving at the Calhoun Aquatic Center for several different age groups, including high school and novice divers. The program is open to anyone interested in the northwest Georgia area. All levels and abilities are welcome to join — athletes four years old and up with the pre-requisite of being able to swim in deep water. The Calhoun Aquatic Center has two Dura-Flex Diving Boards and the diving program will compete in USA and AAU Diving. The program will be led by Phil Lesselroth, — Club Y will host their first Charity Golf the current head diving coach at the McCallie Tournament on April 26 at Fields Ferry. School. Practice days will be Sundays 4:30Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. that day 5:45 p.m. Annual registration fee is $50 and with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. The format is monthly fee is $75 per person. STA ANNUAL ROUND ROBIN DOUBLES TENNIS EVENT

— The Sequoyah Tennis Association will hold their annual Round Robin Doubles Tennis Event from April 22-30 at the City of Calhoun Tennis Courts. Proceeds from this event are fully tax deductible and will be designated to fund the Gordon County Domestic Violence Outreach Office. Title sponsor for the event is Mohawk. Deadline for entry is April 18 and those interested can register by email at statournaments@yahoo.com. There will be men’s, women’s and junior’s doubles divisions. For adults, there will be 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels and for juniors there will be A-Advanced, B-Immediate and C-Beginner, but levels may be combined based on level of participation. Entry fee is $50 for adults and $25 for juniors. Checks should be made out to Gordon County Domestic Violence Outreach Office.

CALHOUN-GORDON COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR CLASS OF 2017

— The Calhoun-Gordon County Sports Hall of Fame is seeking nominations for its 2017 Class. Please go to the website at www.cgcshf.com for rules and nomination process. The deadline for nominations is April 30, 2017. Nominations are good for three years. to perform a series of jumps, including toe touch, double toe touch, pike and hurdler form, which will be judged on form, technique and height. Participants must perform two previously-known chants (using “Bobcats” in the chants), three times each. Participants will be judged on knowledge of chants, sharpness of motions, motion technique and crowd appeal. Participants must perform a previously-known cheer dance that will be judged on knowledge of dance, motions, flow and crowd appeal. Participants must perform two of their best stunts, which will be judged on knowledge of stunts, form and technique. Participants must also show off their best standing and running tumbling moves. They will judged on form and technique. Advanced tumbling is not required, but more advanced tumbling will be awarded more points. Participants will also be interviewed and asked about their strengths as a cheerleader and their motivation for trying out for the Cheer Cat squad. GORDON CENTRAL BLUE WAVE MARCHING BAND MILLION DOLLAR HOLE- IN- ONE SHOOTOUT

— The Gordon Central Blue Wave Marching Band will host their third annual Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout in April. Qualifying dates are April 26 from 12-7 p.m. and April 27-28 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. The Shootout will be April 29 starting at noon. Host location is the Calhoun Elks Lodge at 143 Craigtown Rd, NE Calhoun, Ga 30701. How it works: attend a qualifying date, purchase shots, be a top-10 qualifier and you will have a chance for a shot to win $1 million. Qualifying prices are $2 for one ball, $5 for three balls, $8 for five balls and $10 for seven balls. Each person with the closes to the pin for the the two qualifying flags at the end of qualifying will win $200 each. Marshmallow longest drive is also available with one marshmallow for $2 and three marshmallows for $5. — The Georgia Northwestern Cheer Cats will hold two tryout dates for any current or incoming Georgia Northwestern student wishing to be a part of the squad for the 2017-2018 school year.
