Georgia Farm Bureau congratulates Perdue after being named U.S. Secretary of Agriculture
Macon, GA. - Georgia Farm Bureau President Gerald Long today offered congratulations to former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue on his confirmation as the new head of the United States Department of Agriculture.
Following the full U. S. Senate’s vote Monday to officially install Perdue as head of USDA, President Long said:
“It is a great day for Georgia farmers and those connected to the agriculture industry across America. The Georgia Farm Bureau is especially delighted having worked with Sonny Perdue as governor. Our organization knows first- hand the dedication and leadership he brings to the producers in our country.
“It is gratifying to know agriculture is well represented in Washington, D. C., with former Georgia Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall leading the American Farm Bureau Federation, and a former Georgia Governor with great agriculture experience serving as the nation’s top agriculture administrator at USDA.”
