According to representatives for Firehouse Subs, a new restaurant in their chain, which will be located at the old Church’s Chicken building at 1131 S. Wall Street in Calhoun, should be opened by the end of May as the building rehabilitation project is almost completed.

Firehouse Subs is a U. S.- based, “fast casual sandwich restaurant chain” founded in 1994 in Jacksonville, Fla. by former firefighters, and is known for serving subs with premium meats and cheeses. Firehouse Subs has 1050 franchise restaurants across 44 states, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico.

In addition to subs, the restaurant also supports first responders with different fundraising activities, donations and grants throughout the year. Recently, a Memo of Understanding Funding Agreement from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundations, for a grant awarded to Gordon County Fire & Rescue, was approved by the Gordon County Board of Commissioners. The grant, in the amount of $ 19,464, will be used to purchase several thermal imaging cameras for GCF&R.

In a statement released last week, Del Taco Restaurants, Inc. announced they had recently signed a multi- unit franchise development agreement that will extend the brand into Tennessee and North Georgia, opening seven units by 2019 in Hamilton and Bradley Counties in Tennessee, and Whitfield, Catoosa and Gordon Counties in Georgia.

With more than 550 locations in 15 states, Del Taco is striving to build a stronger national presence by entering new territories in the southeastern and western regions of the country. The restaurant is the nation’s second leading Mexican fast food chain.
