Aligo hired as new Director of Development for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank
Chattanooga, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (Food Bank), Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia’s largest hunger relief organization serving 20 counties, announced the hiring of Sarah Aligo as Director of Development, effective April 10, 2017. Ms. Aligo will oversee fundraising and community engagement efforts in an overall effort to build strong and lasting strategic partnerships that will eliminate hunger and promote better nutrition for our region’s most vulnerable friends and neighbors.
As the former Senior Director of Alumni Programs and Development at the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Law in Cleveland, OH, Ms. Aligo brings more than a decade of development, fundraising, volunteer and event management experience to the Food Bank. Before her time at CWRU School of Law, she served as the Director of Institutional Advancement for the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Nursing, the Director of Annual Giving for the Oklahoma State University Foundation and the Assistant Director of Annual Giving for the Kansas University Endowment Association.

A Kansas native, Ms. Aligo graduated with a Master of Science in Education degree from the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication and Public Relations from Emporia State University (Emporia, KS). She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Founded in 1972 and renamed in 1983, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is committed to leading a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. The Food Bank acquires and distributes healthy food across a 20-county service region including Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the Food Bank distributed over 15.9 million pounds (equal to 13.25 million meals) and served over 25,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the Food Bank works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibility for their health and their lives.
