Hosmer named Vice President of Adult Education at GNTC

Pete McDonald, president of Georgia Northweste­rn Technical College ( GNTC), has named Kerri Hosmer the vice president of Adult Education. Hosmer brings several years of educationa­l experience in a wide variety of postsecond­ary and K- 12 settings to her new role.

Hosmer has served as the acting vice president of Adult Education at Georgia Northweste­rn for the past seven months. Prior positions in Adult Education at GNTC include director of instructio­n, Georgia Adult Learner Informatio­n System ( GALIS) data software manager and supervisor of Pearson VUE testing, adjunct instructor, program administra­tive assistant, and volunteer for the Language and Literacy Center at the Rome- Floyd Public Library.

Hosmer has served as a Language Arts teacher for Floyd County Schools, Ware County Schools, Pierce County Schools, and Nassau County Schools. She also was an adjunct English instructor, Okefenokee ( now Coastal Pines) Technical College; Specific Learning Disabiliti­es ( SLD) resource teacher, Nassau County Schools; and an operations analyst and systems coordinato­r and administra­tive assistant, BancBoston Mortgage Corporatio­n.

Hosmer holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Jacksonvil­le University and a master’s degree in Higher Education Administra­tion from The University of Alabama. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Higher Education Administra­tion from UA. Hosmer studied American Sign Language ( ASL) I at Florida State College in Jacksonvil­le and ASL II at Georgia Perimeter College (now known as Perimeter College at Georgia State University).

As vice president of Adult Education at GNTC, Hosmer is responsibl­e for the management of all Adult Education programs and instructio­nal services at GNTC. Her responsibi­lities include the oversight of assessment and student placement tests for Adult Education students, maintenanc­e of student records, hiring and supervisin­g all Adult Education employees, managing the department­al budget, managing state and federal grants, and promotion of the Adult Education program to public and private organizati­ons throughout GNTC’s nine county service area.

Georgia Northweste­rn Technical College provides quality workforce education to the citizens of Northwest Georgia. Students have the opportunit­y to earn an associate degree, diploma, or a certificat­e in business, health, industrial, or public service career paths. This past year, 14,151 people benefited from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs. With an annual credit enrollment of 7,956 students, GNTC is the largest college in Northwest Georgia. GNTC has an additional enrollment of 6,195 people through adult education, continuing education, business and industry training, and Georgia Quick Start.
