Mrs. Grace West Sparks, age 86, of Folsom Rd, NW, Adairsvill­e, died Thursday, May 4, 2017.

She was born in Bartow County, Nov. 19, 1930, daughter of the late Henry and Dixie Blalock West. She, along with her late husband, Johnny Sparks, owned and operated a poultry and cattle farm, had worked as a forelady at Calmor, and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she had held numerous positions. She enjoyed expressing herself creatively through crafts, painting, singing, playing the piano and was an accomplish­ed seamstress. Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Sparks, a sister, Brenda Horsley, a granddaugh­ter, Angela McMurray, and a son-inlaw, Gary Evans.

Survivors include two daughters and a son- inlaw, Pam and Bernard Cochran of Adairsvill­e and Sheila Evans of Adairsvill­e; two brothers, Jimmy ( Mary) West of Adairsvill­e, and Johnny West of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Jeri (Herb) Swanson of Kennesaw, and Millie Freeman of Atlanta; seven grandchild­ren, Celeste Culpepper, Laura Rutledge, Kristy Jones, James McMurray, Sonya Noble, Alicia Brown, and Jamey Evans; eleven great- grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Tatum and Rev. Larry Hibberts officiatin­g. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearer­s included Will Noble, Jamey Evans, Billy Noble, Mike Brown, Ty Rutledge, James McMurray, Ken Jones, Adam Rutledge, and Jake Noble. Honorary pallbearer­s will be the Deacons of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

The family received friends Sunday at the Church from 2 p. m. until the funeral hour.
