Calhoun-Gordon County Library announces 2017 Summer Reading Program Events

The Calhoun-Gordon County Library is gearing up for the annual Summer Reading Program. Below are the list important dates for this year’s program:

May 22: Sign-ups begin online or at library; must pick up packet at library after signing up. May 30: First Check-in. May 27 and 29: Library closed for Memorial Day.

June 1: Children’s Program-Gene Cordova-Ventriloqu­ist; to be held at FUMC Gym at 10:30 a.m.

June 3: Family Lego Day at 10 a.m.; Coding Class for Teens at 1 p.m.. Must pre-register.

June 5: Children’s Program-Ben Roy-Science Zone Corp at FUMC, 10 a.m., Smart Shopping for Adults, 4 - 5:30 p.m.

June 6: Game Trailer Preview for Teens 4 - 5:30 p.m., Family-Meet Carl, Alliance Therapy Dog, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

June 8: Children’s Program-Seos Martial Arts at FUMC, 10:30 a.m., Canvas & Creations Painting for Teens, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. must re-register.

June 9: Chef Carlin-Cooking for Adults 4:00-5:30-Pre-register

June 10: Coding Class for Teens 1 p.m. –must have already registered

June 12: Canvas & Creations Painting for Adults, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.Pre-register

June 13: Seos Martial Arts for Teens-Self-defense 4 - 5:30 p.m., Family-Meet Carl (ATD) 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

June 15: Children’s Program-Laurel Alford-Balloon Twister-Storytelle­r at FUMC Gym 10:30 a.m.

June 16: Build a Better World for Shelter Animals for Teens & Adults 4 - 5:30 p.m.

June 17: Family Lego Day 10 a.m., Coding Class for Teens 1 p.m. - must have already registered.

June 19: Manners Worth Millions for Teens 4 - 5:30 p.m.

June 20: Children’s Program- Robin Pressley-Keough-Animal Adventures at FUMC Gym, 10:30 a.m.; Family-Meet Carl (ATD) 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.; Friends of the Library Annual Meeting 7 p.m. - Public Welcome, Special Speaker- N. Georgia Author, Janie Dempsey Watts.

June 22: Build a Better Environmen­t/Composting for Adults, 4 - 5:30 p.m.

June 23: Chef Carlin Cooking for Teens, 4 - 5:30 p.m., Pre-register

June 24: Last Check-in, Coding Class for Teens, 1 p.m., must have already registered.

June 26 - June 30: Relationsh­ip Smarts for Teens- Middle School, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; High School 2 -5 p.m. Snacks provided; Family-Meet Carl (ATD) 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

June 30: Winners Announced, Game Trailer Event for Teens is to be announced.

**All Children’s Programs that say FUMC Gym will take place at the First United Methodist Church Gym, 205 E. Line St.

**All other programs- Family, Teen and Adults, will be held at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library, 100 N. Park Avenue in downtown Calhoun.
