Week of May 21

Battle of Resaca Civil War Reenactment, Saturday and Sunday, May 20- 21, in Resaca. Relive the first major battle of the 1864 Atlanta Campaign; held on more than 650 acres of the original battlefield. Camps open to the public at 9 a.m.; battle begins at 2 p. m. each day rain or shine. Free parking; admission $5 adults, $2 children 6-12 years old. No pets allowed. Resaca is located off of I- 75 at Exit 320 (Lafayette, Georgia Highway 136). Go east off interstate approximately 3/ 10 mile, then left onto Highway 41; travel approximately three miles then turn right onto Chitwood Road.

The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission’s Area Agency On Aging will hold its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Thornton Recreation Center, 102 North Floyd Park Road, Rome, Ga. 30165 ( Across from Armuchee High School on Highway 27 North). The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. The meeting is open to the public.

The Nutrition Site Council, located at Gordon County Senior Center, 150 Cambridge Court, will be having a BBQ Plate fundraiser on Saturday, May 27 from 11 a.m. -- 2 p.m. at the Center. Plates include BBQ, baked beans, cole slaw, and pound cake. Price is $6, drinks $1. All plates are to go. Come out and help us raise money for our Senior programs.

Week of May 28

The Nutrition Site Council located at the Gordon County Senior Center, will be participating in the annual HWY 41 Yard Sale the first weekend on June 2 - 4. We will once again be set-up at the Painted Post Trading Company, 1336 N. Hwy 41. This is one of our major fundraisers for the year. Please stop by and help us raise funds for our Senior Citizens programs. The hours are 7 a.m. until dark or we drop.
