The Alzheimer’s Association will host a Caregiver Workshop from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at the Pickens County Community Center (1329 Camp Road, Jasper). Those in attendance will have the opportunity to learn from Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Susan Greene. Susan will present The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Other presentations will include Effective Communication and Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behavior. The Caregiver Workshop is sponsored in part by the Area Agency on Aging. New Foundation Development, Inc.. which is a nonprofit of the Calhoun Housing Authority, has been awarded a Community Home Investment Program (CHIP) Grant in the amount of $306,000 to make needed repairs to the homes of eligible low and moderate income residents living in a targeted area of Calhoun, Georgia. The public is invited to attend this meeting to become informed of the projects activities. A map of the target areas will be available at the meeting. United Way of Gordon County’s Young Leaders Society provides opportunities for philanthropic service, social, and networking events. Our Lunch with Leaders program provides members with a positive learning experience while allowing members to interact with professional leaders in the community.
