Jackets, Phoenix combine for seven All-Region selections

The 6- AAA All- Region Baseball Team was announced this week and several Calhoun and Sonoravill­e players made the cut following impressive seasons.

Calhoun, who advanced all the way to the Class AAA Final Four and finished the season with a 23-15, had four players named to the All-Region Team, including seniors Tanner Gallman (C), Ryan Randall (OF) and Jackson Braden (3B, P) and junior Brett Potts (P, 1B).

Sonoravill­e had three players named to the team, all juniors. The Phoenix selections were Matthew Vincent (3B), Chase Kirby (OF) and Tyler Lyles (1B).

Region 6-AAA champions Ringgold led the selections with six players earning the nod, including Rhett Baldwin, Hunter Ricketts, Holden Tucker, Noah Parrish, Andre Tarver and Nathan Camp.

Coahulla Creek, who also advanced to the Class AAA Final Four last week, was next up with five All-Region picks, including Hayden Lock, Trent Collins, Ethan Waley, Eli Turso and Grant Ogle.

North Murray, the No. 3 seed from 6-AAA, had four selections, including Blake Davis, Nik Malchesky, Waylyn James and Brady Harper.

Haralson County, Bremen and Adairsvill­e all had three players named to the team. Haralson County’s selections were Treylon Sheppard, Luke Cash and Graysen Knight. Bremen’s Sam Thompson, Hayden Jones and Wade O’Neal earned a nod on the team. Adairsvill­e’s three All-Region picks were Kyler Pelfrey, Sam Seaman and Caden Gibbs.

LFO and Murray County rounded out the list with two selections each. For the Warriors, Andrew Brock and Garren Mauldin got the nod, and for the Indians, Kyle Dotson and Preston VanMeter made it.
