The National FFA organization awarded a $1000 Built Ford Tough scholarship to Caleb Carr of the Sonoraville FFA. The scholarship is sponsored by Prater Ford, Inc. of Calhoun. Carr plans to use the funds to pursue a degree in Agriculture Law and Policies. He will attend Fort Scott Community College in Kansas this fall.

The scholarship is one of 1,888 awarded through the National FFA organization’s scholarship program this year. Currently 115 sponsors contribute more than $ 2.7 million to support scholarships for students.

The 2017 scholarship recipients were selected from 8,337 applicants from across the country. Selections were based on the applicant’s leadership, academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agriculture or work experience in agricultural education and future goals.

Proud sponsor of FFA since 1948, Ford is the largest corporate sponsor of collegiate scholarships to FFA members. Since 1997, the amount awarded is more than $9.2 million.
