The Russians are coming
The one thing that the Russians respect is strength. There was nothing about President Obama that indicated strength and not only Russia, but the rest of the world no longer respected and feared the United States.
The President that was most respected by the Russians was President Reagan. It was during his time that the Berlin Wall was torn down and Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev visited the United States and the Cold War ended. Premier Gorbachev and President Reagan became close friends and Premier Gorbachev came to Los Angeles after he was no longer Premier and taught some courses in one of the California universities. He also made a number of visits with President Reagan at the ranch after his terms in office were completed.
It is hard to forget the open mike issue with President Obama telling one of Putin’s assistants that he should report to Putin that after his re-election in November 2012, he would be able to be a little more flexible. Flexibility is not a characteristic that the Russians respect.
President Trump owns one or more hotels in Russia, but he had no close connections with any of the government officials. He had never met or had a conversation with Premier Putin at the time of the election. As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton had met Premier Putin. She had approved the sale of the Uranium One Corporation to Russia and it controlled more than 20 percent of the U.S. uranium. It sounds like this was bathed in bribery when you hear that shortly after this sale, Bill Clinton was paid a half a million dollars to make a speech in Moscow. It also was just a short period later that the Russians donated two million dollars to the Clinton Foundation. The Liberals found nothing irregular in these actions and no investigation was necessary.
Candidate Donald Trump was being interviewed on television and a question came up about the Clinton related emails that were being released by WikiLeaks and whether they came from the Russians. Candidate Trump commented humorously that maybe we could ask them if they could find the 30,000 emails that Hillary had erased from her server. The that a special investigator would be named to investigate President Trump. He was successful and a special investigator was appointed. The Special Investigator is an antiTrump individual and he has built a staff for investigating President Trump where many of them have direct connections with Hillary Clinton. They may spend as much as a billion dollars before they are finished investigating.
The latest episode concerning Russia happened during the campaign. While President Trump owned the Miss Universe Pageant, there was a man from England named Rob Goldstone who assisted in promoting the pageants in Europe and in Moscow. Donald Trump, Jr. was also involved and both of them had dealings with the host of the pageant in Moscow. The host had a son named Emin who was a very popular singer in Russia. In June of 2016, Goldstone emailed Donald Trump, Jr. and told him that the popular singer Emin had a female lawyer friend in Russia who had information about the Clintons that might be interesting to the Trump campaign. It concerned Russian government contributions to the Clinton campaign. Donald Trump, Jr. knew Emin so they talked by telephone and Donald, Jr. expected to talk to the female lawyer by telephone. Emin told Donald, Jr. that she was on her way to New York and would like to speak to him personally. A meeting was arranged just after she arrived with Donald, Jr., his brother-in-law, the campaign manager and the young lady Natallia Veselnitskaya. It turned out that she did not have any information and just wanted to meet Donald, Jr. and see Trump Towers. She was not connected with the Russian government in any way. The Russian lady lawyer apparently met a powerful Democrat later, who thought he could use this meeting to embarrass and cause trouble for President Trump. He passed the information to the news media who released it as a sinister meeting that would embarrass the Trump family.
President Trump continues to do his job and the country is much better off under his leadership. He still would like to drain the swamp in Washington but there are many Democrats and Republicans that like things the way they have been for many years.
