Calhoun Rotary welcomes District Governor

- Staff Reports

July is an important month in Rotary Clubs throughout the world. It is a time when new officers assume their duties in their respective clubs.

The Calhoun Rotary Club’s new District Governor, David Cooper, and Assistant District Governor, Jessica Fleetwood, dropped by to help Calhoun Rotary mark this milestone.

Cooper is a member of Rockdale County Rotary and has been an active member in that club. In his remarks, he outlined some of his goals for the year: Grow club membership by 10 percent; plant one tree for each Rotarian in District 6910; to continue to support Rotary International’s effort to eradicate Polio worldwide, and he encouraged our members to “have fun and make a difference in our community and the world.”

Calhoun Rotary Club President John King was recognized as a “Top Gun” for filling in as President for a second term due to unforeseen circumstances. Other Calhoun Rotarians recognized were Laura Roberson, Jim Lay, and Russell Dudley, along with King, for recruiting the most members in the past year. Immediate Past President Jim Rosencrance was recognized to step in to the role of president on short notice as the situation dictated.

The club was also pleased to welcome several guests: Jim Noles, Premier Platform, guest of Governor Cooper; Scott Wycoff, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones Investment, guest of Suzanne Roberts; Laurice Tatum, Dalton Rotary; B. J. Robinson of Farm Bureau Insurance, guest of Sam Thomas.
