Here’s what to know for Unity Run/Walk XXIV on Sept. 26

The 24th Annual Unity Run/Walk is set for Tuesday, Sept. 26. This community event is a fall tradition in Gordon County. It serves as the kick-off event for the United Way of Gordon County’s Fund Raising Campaign. The proceeds from this event are included in the campaign total for the year. The money raised in the campaign supports the 18 United Way agencies working in Gordon County.

Important informatio­n for the Run/Walk is listed. AGC Pediatrics Informatio­n: -AGC Pediatrics 1-K Kid’s Run starts at 5 p.m. and includes children Pre-K-5th grades ages 3-11. -The AGC Pediatrics 1-K starts and finishes at Gordon Central High School. -The children who register for the 1-K may also do the 5-K Run/Walk so they get both runs for one price, but only receive one shirt. -First, second and third place medals for each age group male and female starting with age 3. -Overall Awards for the fastest male and female are also given. -Each participan­t will receive the coveted Unity Run T-shirt upon completion of the run. -The cost of the run for kids and students is $15. 5-K Run/Walk Informatio­n: - The 5- K starts at Gordon Central at 6: 30 p. m. and finishes at the corner of Court St. and Park Ave. in beautiful Downtown Calhoun. -All participan­ts for the 5-K are encouraged to park in Downtown Calhoun and ride the buses back to Gordon Central. -Buses run from the Calhoun Depot starting at 4:30 p.m. with the last bus leaving at 6:10. -NO Buses run after the race so the 5-K could become a 10-K if the runner has to walk back to Gordon Central High School to pick up the car. -Each runner will receive the coveted Unity Run T-shirt upon completion of the run. -Age Division medals will be given for male and female starting with 10 and under and continuing in ago groups of 5 years. Ex. 11-15 concluding with above 70. -Master and Grand Master awards will be given -Awards for Overall winners male and female will be given. -Awards for Overall Gordon County winners male and female will be given -The cost is $ 25 until September 20 and then it goes to $30 -Chip timing will be used to determine winners in each division. -Runners and walkers may pick up their numbers on Monday, Sept. 25 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the Calhoun Depot.
