Red Bud Cross Country teams run well in multiple meets

The boys team also posted an impressive meet and received second place. Top-10 runners for the boys were Cole Hunt, Tyler Johns, Ross Stewart, Eli Walraven, Wes Cantrell, Dustin Fortenberr­y, Jacob White, Charlie Morales, JT Vess and Andrew Carey.

The Phoenix runners also showed well at the Euharlee Covered Bridge Invitation­al on Saturday, Sept. 9. The girls finished fifth out of 17 teams, and the boys came in seventh out of 17 teams.

Top runners for the girls were Dayleigh Dress, Veronica Williams, Atherton Massey, Kynlee Austin, Chloe Parker, Kayleigh Desrosier, Fatima Toledo, Lizeth Bautista and Kaylie Jacobo.

The top finishers for the boys were Cole Hunt, Ross Stewart, Tyler Johns, Wes Cantrell, Eli Walraven, Dustin Fortenberr­y, Jacob White, JT Vess and Daycen Dress.

-The Ashworth Cross Country team also competed in the Euharlee Covered Bridge Invitation­al.

Runners from the boys and girls registered a few of their best times of the season during the Bartow County race.

For the girls, Ashworth’s top finisher was Cora Stepp, who finished 15th overall. The most improved was Tessoni Lemmons, who knocked around 11 minutes off her previous time.

For the boys, the top finisher was Alan Osorio, who finished in ninth place overall. The most improved runners were Nico Gaines, Noah Tench and Aiden Long.

Golf

-The Ashworth Lady Warriors golf team claimed another victory to remain undefeated in match play.

The Lady Warriors shot 109, which was ahead of Cartersvil­le’s 112, Adairsvill­e’s 128 and Red Bud’s 130. Brooke Wilson led the way with a 52. Also having a successful day for the team was Caitlyn Chilito with a 57. Lindsey Lowrance notched a 59, Madison Miller posted a 60 and Kayla Silvers added a 61.

The boys tied for second with Red Bud with a total score of 225. Cartersvil­le took the match with a 176. Caleb Freeman led the team with a 54. Chandler Huffman contribute­d a 56, Walker Angland pitched in a 57 and Micah Stanfield and Kyle Howie scored 58 each.
