Letter to the Editor

-

I know politics can be a boring and sometimes a complicated subject today, but I believe that it is more important than ever to be engaged in our current politics. We are bombarded by news from social media, as well as right wing and left wing news from electronic media, that exaggerates and distorts the truth. I believe that it is the responsibility of every voter to search out the truth from multiple news sources and obtained various opinions from several people to obtained the absolute truth.

I believe too many times, because of the busy life style of people, they tend to catch five minutes of Fox News or MSNBC and form their opinions, which the news stories could be exaggerated or downright false. Our current leaders would like to keep the uneducated voters in order to sway them to vote for their agendas.

It is our responsibility to know the subject that we are voting for as well as the person and what he or she stands for. It is my desire to encourage people to read different points of view and obtain the truths in order to vote with knowledge, rather than the emotions that perpetuate today’s society.

I wrote this because I care for my country and see it being torn apart by extreme views on both sides. We are taught that moderation is the key to life. I think if we work toward and compromise that we could find that key. Randall Roberts
