CALHOUN RECREATION DEPARTMENT YOUTH BASKETBALL REGISTRATION
— Registration for the 2017-18 Youth Basketball season at the Calhoun Rec will be held Oct. 2-Nov. 9. Registration fee is $45 and is open to girls ages 7-12 and boys ages 7-14. Age cutoff date is Dec. 31, 2017. Registration is available at the Calhoun Rec Dept. at 601 South River Street Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-9 p.m. or Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or online at www.calhounrec.com. GORDON COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION YOUTH BASKETBALL REGISTRATION
— Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to announce open registration for 2017 Youth Basketball. Registration will start Oct. 7 and go through Nov. 4. Registration fee for youth basketball is $45. There will be a late fee of $10 added if it is after Nov. 4. Age divisions are as follows: 5-6 co-ed, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-17 boys and girls age groups. The age control date is January 1, 2018. Registration will be taken at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex at 7494 Fairmount Highway or online at www.gordoncounty.org. ELKS SOCCER SHOOT 2017
— The annual Elks Soccer Shoot will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at the River Park Soccer Complex. There is no charge to compete and sign-ups will be held the day of the competition. Medals will be given to the top three scorers in each age group and age groups are as follows: U8, U10, U12, U14 (birthday as of Aug. 1, 2017). There will be boys and girls divisions for each age group. U12 and U14 contestants will take shots from the penalty mark onto a regulation goal that is divided into a grid with each spot on the grid being worth a set amount of points. Most points wins. U8 and U10 contestants will take shots onto 5 PVC goals of various sizes. Winners of each age group advance to the Northwest District competition to be held at the River Park Soccer Complex on Sunday, Nov. 5. If you have any questions, contact Chuck Ruth at 770-548-5620.
SONORAVILLE YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB
— The Sonoraville High Wrestling Program will begin its Youth Wrestling Club in early November. It will be two nights per week from November through February and wrestlers will compete in four or five tournaments. Additional details will be coming soon.
