Wofford’s Wilson continues strong year with four tackles in win

Several former local football standouts have gone on to the next level to play college football and many are making an impact for their teams this season. More than 30 players that graduated from either Calhoun, Gordon Central or Sonoravill­e can be found on college football rosters throughout the nation, and several of those saw action in their team’s most recent game.

Here’s a roundup of the former local players who appeared in the box score and how they did last week:

JIREH WILSON Wofford, Calhoun

Wilson started at outside linebacker and had four total tackles (two solo, two assists) in the Terriers’ 35-28 overtime win at home over Western Carolina last Saturday. The sophomore had a tackle-for-loss among his stops.

CHANDLER CURTIS Mercer, Calhoun

Curtis had two catches for 18 yards in Mercer’s 24-14 road win at The Citadel last Saturday. The senior receiver also returned two punts for a total of 23 yards.

TAYLOR LAMB Appalachia­n State, Calhoun

Lamb, a redshirt-senior, ran for 79 yards and a touchdown on six carries with a long of 38 in the Mountainee­rs’ 45-31 home win over New Mexico State last Saturday. The starting quarterbac­k also threw for 48 yards on 10-of-21 passes with two intercepti­ons.

KAELAN RILEY Mercer, Calhoun

Riley threw for 111 yards on 12-of-23 passing in the Bears’ 24-14 win at The Cita- del last Saturday. The starting redshirt-freshman quarterbac­k also ran for 32 yards on 10 carries.

TRISTAN FULLER Sewanee, Calhoun

Fuller, a junior defensive lineman, had two solo tackles and two assists for a total of four, including a half a tacklefor-loss, in the Tigers’ 48-10 home loss to Berry last Saturday.

THOMAS LESTER West Georgia, Calhoun

Lester, a junior receiver, had one catch for 13 yards in the Wolves’ 42-13 home win over Valdosta State last Saturday.

TRENT FRIX Georgia, Calhoun

Frix, a senior, handled long-snapping duties for the Bulldogs in their 45-14 win at Vanderbilt last Saturday in SEC play.

SEBASTIAN WILLER Georgia State, Calhoun

Willer, a redshirt-senior, got the start at right tackle in the Panthers’ 27-21 win at Coastal Carolina last Saturday.

DREW McENTYRE The Citadel, Calhoun

McEntyre, a sophomore, started at right tackle for the Bulldogs in their 24-14 home loss to Mercer last Saturday.

NOAH DAVENPORT Limestone, Calhoun

Davenport, a freshman, started at left guard for the Saints in their 31-20 home loss to Carson-Newman last Saturday.

AUSTIN STOUT Monroe College, Calhoun

Stout, a freshman, got the start on the offensive line for the Mustangs in their 34-32 home win over Valley Forge Military College last Saturday.

DREW McCRACKEN Kennesaw State, Calhoun

McCracken, a junior, handled long-snapping duties for the Owls in their 48-3 home win over Texas Southern last Saturday.

LANDON RICE Mississipp­i Gulf Coast, Calhoun

Rice, a freshman tight end, participat­ed but didn’t record any stats in the Bulldogs’ 52-20 home win over Mississipp­i Delta Community College last Thursday.

DJ PRATHER Chattanoog­a, Gordon Central

Prather, senior defensive end, participat­ed but didn’t record any stats in the Mocs’ 41-17 home loss to Furman.

AUSTIN BYRD Mississipp­i Gulf Coast, Calhoun

Byrd, a redshirt- junior tight end, participat­ed but didn’t record any stats in the Owls’ 48-3 win at home over Texas Southern last Saturday.
