Looking from different viewpoints
All have often heard it stated that there are two sides to every question or issue. Let it be affirmed today that there are often many sides to questions and issues. preacher took the position that he could state his position on any biblical issue on a penny postcard. The penny postcard was discussed in this column several years ago. The preacher was challenged late in his life to do so. I was young then and don’t know the outcome of all the discussions.
I am about to use the penny postcard philosophy and state my position on several popular issues of modern concern:
1. The Public Smoking Issue: I recognize everyone’s right to smoke. I also recognize my right to breather fresh air. I am glad smoking in public places has been declared illegal. This is not a moral issue with me.
2. Intelligent Design (Divine Creation of the World) versus Evolution: Evolution is the blind faith of Secular Humanism. It is remarkable how Evolutionist attack those of faith with such arrogance and confidence. They can’t prove their position. Let them believe it but don’t speak, write and act like those who believe in God and His Bible are ignoramuses.
3. Public Transportation: We have a great highway system in America. At the same time, we have more vehicles than it can handle. Travel by rail (trains, etc.) would be an efficient, safe (possibly I should say “more safe”) and economical means of transporting great numbers of people.
4. About TV: We have more choices but we have the sorriest offering on television ever. It is a wonderful experience to have some select channels from younger days of television without the cursing and scenes prominently shown today. Let me take you back to point one in this list and add that the consumption of alcohol on such a casual basis was not presented so prevalently 50 years ago.
These viewpoints (convictions) are not imposed upon anyone. These are one person’s viewpoints. It is doubted I could adequately defend them on a penny postcard.
