Gordon County Hunger Walk will be held on Nov. 5, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the Calhoun Recreation Department. The registrati­on for the community walk together to raise awareness of hunger in our area will be at the Pavilion near the Yellow and Black Playground of the Calhoun Rec. Registrati­on begins at 2: 30 p. m. Enter from McDaniel Station Rd. Any sized donation is accepted and appreciate­d. Together we will assist these area food banks: VAC, Blewer Food Bank, God’s Pantry at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and St Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry of St. Clements Catholic Church. Money is to be turned in the day of the event. The Gordon County Hunger Walk will be held rain or shine. Join the Gordon County Ministeria­l Associatio­n is this walk through the park. Gordon Hospital, Gordon EMS, and Chickfil- A of Calhoun will honor the community’s veterans by hosting a free Veterans Lunch. All veterans are invited to enjoy a free, dine- in only lunch at Chick-fil-A in Calhoun, located at 495 Highway 53 East on Friday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Calhoun Housing Authority Board of Commission­ers meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month for the regular called Board Meetings at 12: 00 p. m. Special Board meetings will be advertised in advance. All meetings are held at 607 Oothcaloog­a St. Calhoun, Georgia. The public is invited to attend. The Calhoun Area Writers meet every third Friday of the month at The Harris Arts Center from 6-7:30 p.m. The club exists to support writers, from published authors to those who simply enjoy writing down their thoughts.

TALLATOONA BEGINS LIHEAP HEAT ING ASSISTANCE. Nov. 1 is the date Tallatoona will begin accepting appointmen­ts for the heating assistance program. MOMS Club of Calhoun is a new local chapter of an internatio­nal nonprofit group. MOMS Club is a support group designed for the at-home mother of today. Membership is open to all moms who live in Gordon County. Events are scheduled weekdays during the day and children are welcome at all events. Mothers of any age children are welcome. The goals of the group are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, provide a forum for topics of interest to all mothers, to help children in the community and perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children. Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in its fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, monthto- month basis. The Gordon County Nutrition Site would like to invite seniors ages 60 and over to come to the senior center, located at 150 Cambridge Court Monday–Friday at 11:30 a. m. for a nutritious meal.
