Harris Arts Center’s Festival of Trees opens today

- Staff Reports

Festival of Trees has become a holiday tradition for patrons of the Harris Arts Center. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Nov. 1, opening day of the 13th annual “Festival of Trees & Mistletoe Market,” to run through Dec. 10. Admission is free.

Generous businesses and individuals donate beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and centerpieces for silent auction.

Themes run the gamut from traditional to whimsical. Some past favorites have been a “Cat in the Hat” tree, trees in the shape of a snowman and Santa Claus, a dancing reindeer tree, woodland trees, a ladder tree, sports trees, princess trees, a welded rebar tree, and a PVC pipe tree, to name a few. There is a color scheme for every décor, from heart-warming red and green to fuchsia and lime. Rustic to refined describe the centerpieces and wreaths that can grace either cabin or country estate.

The Oh Deer! It’s Christmas! Ladies’ Luncheon

will be held at the Harris Arts Center during the Festival of Trees on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at noon.

Festival of Trees is one of the arts center’s largest fundraisers of the year, helping to support the Roland Hayes Museum, plays, concerts, and children’s programming. Donors have the option of placing promotional printed materials beside their entries. Guidelines and entry deadlines may be found online at www.harrisartscenter.com. Contact Jennifer Dudley to donate to Festival of Trees by calling 706-629-2599. Sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
