Georgia National Fair Cattle and Swine Shows, Livestock Judging Contest

Exhibiting in the Georgia National Fair Swine Show were Mackenzie Coffey, Grace Johns, Rebekah McElrath, Gus Miller, Gracy Sexton, and Bailey Stafford. Gus Miller received 3rd place in 5th grade showmanshi­p, Rebekah McElrath placed 11th in 7th grade showmanshi­p, and Gracy Sexton placed 3rd in 11th grade showmanshi­p. Rebekah McElrath also placed 9th in her market class and Gracy Sexton placed second and third in her respective classes for her market hog and breeding gilt. Gracy Sexton also received special recognitio­n for being the 3rd place overall in the Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation showmanshi­p points circuit for 2016-2017.

Finally, the Gordon County 4-H livestock judging team competed at the Peach State Livestock Judging Contest held at the Georgia National Fair. Junior team members included Luke Brown, Kylie Hurd, Breana Manning, Rebekah McElrath, Roberto Romero, and Ben Williams. Senior team members were Bryson Smith, Shelby Stephenson, Amara White, and Carol-Ann Worsham. In the contest, the junior team placed 5th and the senior team placed 6th, and both were the top Georgia 4-H team in their respective divisions.
