Jackets, Lady Jackets sweep wins in big home meet at CAC

Calhoun hosted six other teams from northwest Georgia for a big meet at the Calhoun Aquatic Center on Thursday, and both the Calhoun boys and Calhoun girls were atop the standings when everything wrapped up.

The Calhoun boys scored an impressive 476 points to take first over the field. River Ridge was the next highest scorer with 333 points.

The Lady Jackets also had a great night, racking up 396 points for a first-place finish ahead of Heritage (355) and River Ridge (332).

First- place finishes for Calhoun on the night came from the 200-yard medley relay team of Matthew Mon- forte, Markie Hutzler, Dawson Kerns and Jeremiah Petty, John Carroll in the 200yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, Petty in the 500yard freestyle, Allie Workman in the 200-yard individual medley, Brody Bushong in the 50-yard freestyle relay, Reese Duke in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Vivianne Funes in the 500- yard freestyle, Bo Dyar in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay, the relay team of Cal Parker, Carroll, Bushong and Petty, Dyar in the 100yard backstroke, Parker in the 100- yard breaststro­ke, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Funes, Duke, Katherine Russell and Laney Holsomback.

Also scoring points for the Calhoun Diving Team was Ethan Bunch and Evan Bunch for the boys and Emma Long and Erin Paul for the girls.

Calhoun will next compete in a home meet on Nov. 30 when they host Gilmer, Cass, Cartersvil­le, Northwest Whitfield and Pickens at the Calhoun Aquatic Center.
