and have a lot of tradition. But that’s the way it should be. This is a state championship game, and you expect to play the best. Our kids will be ready, and their kids will be ready. It’s going to be a great game.”

Lamb said his team is getting ready for a different kind of challenge than they have faced so far in the playoffs.

“They are a different team than we’ve faced the last four games,” said Lamb. “Their quarterback is very good and can throw it and run when he needs to. They have good receivers, and they are strong on defense. I really don’t see any weaknesses.

“We’ve got to be physical and sound on both sides of the ball. We can’t turn the ball over, and we need to milk some clock with long offensive drives.”

Prediction:

Well, not many people expected this Calhoun team to reach this point, but like many Jackets’ teams of the past, they are big-time overachievers and seem to be playing their best football in the postseason.

They’ve already knocked out one juggernaut in Cedar Grove, and this week will take a similar type effort as the Trojans are an incredibly talented and deep team.

But I’ve stopped doubting what this team can accomplish. And apparently they never doubted at all, players, coaches and fans.

An almost perfect game will be needed to walk away as state champs, and nothing less should be expected from this Jackets’ team because they have proven over and over again they can rise to the occasion.

“We’ve been working to get to this point all year, and we’ve come a long way, especially the DBs,” added Spector. “Teams think they can throw on us, but we’ve been stopping that. We want to do that again on Friday.”
