Nothing about Him is discounted

-

types of buyers, hereinafter referred to as spenders. There are “frugal spenders,” who spends as little money as possible. There are “impulse spenders,” who may aim to be frugal, but can rarely pass- up a good deal. There are “indulgent spenders,” while these folks may be careful about how much they spend on necessities, they love to buy things that they don’t really need. There’s the “balanced spender” that buys mostly cheap things with a few luxury items thrown in from time to time. And then there’s the “continuous over-spender,” one who is always in the red, and surmounts great levels of debt.

At the end of the day we are all spenders, be it for pleasure or necessity. Not only are we all spenders, but we all have a love for one thing that isn’t just reserved for Christmas time… A DISCOUNT! I mean, who doesn’t want a discount, especially this time of year? Consider Black Friday sales at WalMart… they’re like real life WWE arenas, and people will come very close to choke slamming you over a discounted item.

From the very beginning of printed papers, businesses have offered printed discounts on their products or services. They do this to get you in the door, and build a customer relationship with you. It’s brilliant from a business point of view. Everyone loves discounted products and services. The biggest drawback over time might be if the customer service/ relationship is lacking. If it is, there’s no loyalty.

I’m so thankful that even in the beginning; God’s love for us was not discounted. Not even at the birth of Christ was there an easy part. Imagine a pregnant Mary having to ride into town on the back of a donkey. Imagine delivering the baby without any medical attention, or even a clean place? Then even into His earthly adult ministry, Jesus didn’t even have a place to lay his head. He was paying the full price for our redemption.

Philippians 2: 5- 8 reads, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”

Even today, those of us who have a relationship with Him know that it is not discounted. He is graceful to give us everything, though we deserve nothing. The greatest gift, of course, is His presence in our lives. The name “Emanuel” was given on purpose, and as a promise, to ensure His continuous presence in our lives. Be Blessed.
