TOBI Says, Your name is important

-

Are you good at remembering names? Most people have trouble remembering somebody’s name. It is a common excuse.

That fellow does not have trouble remembering the name of that pretty girl. I guess that is motivation. When you hear someone asking about you, your first question is usually, “What does he look like?”

Do you remember what TOBI stands for? The T is for Thaddaeus. He was one of Jesus’ disciples. The O is for Obadiah. He was a prophet in the Old Testament. The B is Bartholomew. He was another one of Jesus’ disciples. And the I is Isaiah, another prophet in the Old Testament. TOBI is much easier to remember. But he does have a long Bible name.

Did you know that your name is important also? If you write a check, you must write out your name. They have to be able to read it to be sure that it is you. Your signature gives the bank the authority to give that person the money out of your account.

Have you heard someone say, “That fellow in the blue shirt?” They forgot, or did not know, his name. That would make you feel unimportant.

When you pray, you close each prayer by saying “in Jesus name.” When you do that, you have the authority to talk to God.

When someone remembers your name, it should make you feel special. They took the time and made the effort to know you. It should also remind you that God loves you and knows your name.
