Sonoraville Baptist Church names transitional pastor
The Rev. Dr. A. C. Smith is serving Sonoraville Baptist Church as transitional pastor.
A Virginia native, Smith is an assistant online professor with Liberty University’s School of Divinity. He has also served as a pastor for 33 years in Virginia and Ohio. Smith is married to the former Lori Jean McConaghy.
As a transitional pastor, Smith will lead the congregation in preparing to serve and connect with the community to show the love of Christ. He will provide training in evangelism, discipleship and small groups to effectively reach people and grow them in Christ.
“Relationships are a major key in reaching people,” said Smith, who has taught evangelism and church growth. “People are hungry to connect with others that they can relate to.”
Smith serves the congregation as a preacher, pastor and consultant. He hold a Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice SeminaAry in Lithonia, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N. C., and a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Smith was trained in clinical pastoral education at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Va. He has been trained and certified in Transitional Pastoral Ministry from Lifeway.
