at 132 lbs, Jebb Knight at 170 lbs, Draven Peppers at 189 lbs and Jaxx Knight at 215 lbs.

Also making valuable contributions for the Firebirds was Zach McAfee, who contributed a second-place finish in his weight class, Druu Faulk who added a thirdplace finish and Cole Weaver and Derek Dusseau who each chipped in fourth-place finishes.

“We have had a very successful season as a whole this year, finishing with a 23-7 dual record,” said Bowers. “The kids progressed every time we all competed and practiced. Every practice was ended with the question, ‘did I get better today?’ We took every match, win or lose, as ‘that’s not good enough, let’s get better,’ and the kids bought into it. Also, leadership from the kids themselves was key. Jebb and Jaxx Knight, Draven Peppers, Misha Arbos, Nic Haberman, Rowan Burdick, Lake Prater, Cole Hunt, along with others took getting better by improving new wrestlers to heart, and they built each other. I could not be more proud of a group of kids.”

-After snagging second place in last weekend’s BGMSAA Dual Championships, Calhoun’s wrestling secured a third place overall finish in the Traditional bouts.
