Registration deadline for high school students to participate in MyPI ( My Preparedness Initiative): High school students in Gordon County have a unique opportunity to be the first in the state to receive MyPI training, a two- time national award winning eight week program hosted locally by Gordon County 4-H and the Gordon County Fire Department where youth will become equipped for leadership in emergency preparedness and disaster management. Youth receive numerous certifications as well as community service hours for their participation in the program. Participants will be chosen by an application process. Calhoun Beautification Arbor Day Trees Give Away: Starting at 10 a. m. @ NW GA Livestock Pavilion. Calhoun Beautification will be giving away trees provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission in recognition of Arbor Day. The seedlings available include: 500 Virginia Pine, 500 Persimmon, 500 Northern Red Oak, 1000 Dogwood, 750 Catalpa, 40 Willow Oak, 500 White Oak, 1000 Redbud, and 250 Gobbler Sawtooth Oak.
