More than a yard sale

-

success! Once again we exceeded our monetary goal. Only Heaven knows the impact that you have had on the children and you by supporting us.

Over the last few years, I have realized it’s more than a yard sale. All over the building there were happy moments being shared. Reunions were had by friends and family, some 20 plus years past due. I think there were some people that came every day, just to see who was there.

All of the items that were donated came with stories. There were a lot of “My mother used to have a set of those” and “What in the world is this?” conversations. One friend that I hadn’t seen in more than 20 years came and bought a book for a dollar. As it turned out, it was an official autographed copy of a book by Donald Trump. We found one just like it on e- bay for $ 150. It was just one of many stories that we will tell for years to come.

The purpose of the sale is the story of the greatest donation of all time. It’s found in John 3: 16. It reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This is still the greatest story ever told. Times have changed, and not all for the better. Many of the children and youth that come through the doors of Antioch, and your church, will listen to the Gospel for the first time. Many will receive the gift of salvation that comes through accepting the forgiveness of Christ for their sin. These young folks will use their talents to share the story in their homes, schools ( yes, they can still do that) and our community. Some will end up sharing it all over our country and the world. One of our high school students will share it in Brazil this summer with FCA. A few of our recent graduates will go this summer to share it in Estonia, the second most atheistic nation in the world ( second only to China). What a blessing it is for us all to have a part in this.

We all have the opportunity to share our own personal stories, whether it is at the Antioch Baptist Youth Indoor Yard Sale, at the grocery store, or somewhere else. Don’t miss out on the chance to tell the story of your salvation. Don’t just tell about an experience that happened when you were a youth. Tell them about what God is doing in your life today. Tell of the difference He has made in your life. I hope that you can praise the Lord with your testimony. I hope you have one. If not, I’d love to talk to you more about it. Be blessed.
