Update from latest meeting of Calhoun City Council

The Calhoun City Council had an abbreviate­d meeting on Monday night, which was the second regularly scheduled meeting for February.

The Council heard a second reading of a beer and wine package license for Fred’s Stores #1213 on Curtis Parkway. The request is eligible for a public hearing on March 12.

A second reading was held for a beer, distilled spirits and wine pouring license for Guacamole Bar & Grill on Outlet Center Drive. The request is eligible for a public hearing on March 12.

In new business, a first reading of a beer and wine package license for Rainbow #2, located on Oothcaloog­a Street, was held. The request is eligible for a public hearing on March 26.

The Council approved a constructi­on contract agreement with Mayan Pools & Sports Constructi­on for work on the pool deck of the Calhoun Recreation Department. The price of the project is around $125,000 and needs to be completed for the pool to open to the public this year.

The Council also approved the Calhoun Police Department to purchase components for a HD Network Camera System at a cost of $ 1,737. The funds will come from the Asset Forfeiture Account.

The next meeting of the Calhoun City Council will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 12 at the downtown Depot.
